Merricks Residence

This contemporary residence is defined by a clear, balanced architectural language that emphasises proportion, materiality and connection to its surroundings. The building is composed as a series of simple, gabled forms arranged symmetrically along a central axis, creating a calm and ordered presence within the landscape. 

Large expanses of floor-to-ceiling glazing and full-height gable windows introduce an abundance of natural light and establish a strong visual relationship between inside and out. Living spaces open directly to the garden, encouraging a seamless flow between interior rooms and the outdoor environment.

A restrained palette of dark masonry, refined metal detailing and a simple roof profile gives the home a sense of permanence and solidity. Subtle recesses, layered façades and carefully proportioned openings add depth and texture, softening the overall form and enhancing its human scale.
